Andrew Franklin

Director

I founded Profile Books with a friend in 1996.  It is now one of the UK’s most successful independent publishers, with best-selling authors including Mary Beard, Sarah Perry, Alan Bennett, Atul Gawande, Margaret MacMillan and many more.

I am also a director of Rare, a BAME recruitment consultancy and am a former director and trustee of the JCC for London, and the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

My favourite mode of transport in London is the bicycle, which proves nimble and able to exploit gaps that larger vehicles can’t – I like to think that Profile is just as agile amid the conglomerates of the publishing landscape.

Intrigued by the thinking behind The Circle, I was responsible for introducing Noam and Nick, both of whom I’d worked with to good effect in the past – so I hope to be able to take some responsibility for The Circle’s success.
