Circle Sq. Coffee Morning on Medical Negligence

Circle Sq. Fortnightly Virtual Coffee Morning

Join us fortnightly on Fridays at 11am via Zoom. Everybody is welcome. Join the conversation.

On Friday 8th October @ 11am, we are joined by Circle Sq. member and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Richard Pyper.

Why and how do failures in medical treatment happen?  With 40 years of medical experience and 25 years advising on cases of clinical negligence,  Richard Pyper highlights some underlying psychological processes, which often cause disastrous medical outcomes.  Despite recent advances and checks in procedures, these continue to occur and he invites discussion on how learning from these cases might help improve patient safety.

As well as working as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Richard has a secondary career as an Expert Witness providing reports on cases where patients have suffered complications during pregnancy, delivery and gynaecological surgery. He is interested in understanding how organisational issues, attitudes and thought processes contribute to devastating and avoidable outcomes.
