Since 1917 IWM London has been collecting objects and stories revealing people’s experiences of war and preserving them for future generations. After re-opening the museum’s First World War Galleries and atrium in 2014, marking the centenary of the First World War, IWM have now launched another phase of transformation – to create new Second World War and Holocaust Galleries.
Opening this Autumn, the £30.5 million project will make IWM the first museum in the world to physically and intellectually present the interrelated narratives of the Holocaust and Second World War. Allowing visitors to truly reflect on these momentous 20th century events and grasp the inextricable link between them.
Join us for a special event with James Bulgin, IWM’s Head of Content for the new Holocaust Galleries. James will share what it has been like to develop these ground-breaking galleries; from creating an accessible and comprehensive narrative journey to the profound responsibility of representing real peoples stories.
